Elul Zman as we know is a time to return to Hashem. Being Chozer B’Tshuva for past transgressions is
not an easy task. Especially since there are two tracks of Tshuva, Bein Adam L’Chaveiro, and Bein Adam
L’makom. Bein Adam L’Makom require’s much reflection and Cheshbon Hanefesh, yet Bein Adam
l’Chaveiru requires more, since Yom Kippur is M’Chapur on Bein Adam L’Makom, yet Aveiros of Bein
Adam L’chaveiru Yom Kippur is not M’Chapur. Rather one must confront their fellow and beg for
Mechila. Only after the Mechila is given, can one be assured that they did Teshuva in terms of Bein
Adam l’Chaveiro.
Unfortunately this is not enough, we must change our ways, and show Hashem that we are sincere and
want to do his ratzon. I have one idea that will not only change the way we act towards are Chaveirim
and our Tatte in Himmel. It will also make us dramatically change how we feel towards ourselves.
Hashem gave no two people the same Personality, DNA, and Pekeleh, as another person. Yet many of
times we feel Jealous, angry, sad, upset, that we are not Richer, Funnier, More Attractive, Have more
friends, etc. This is the cause of many of our Aveiros. In Mesechta Avos, we are taught, “Who is
Wealthy? One who is happy with their lot.” Then The Masechta continues on to tell us that people with
this Middah are “Praiseworthy” in this world, and it is “good for them” in Olam Haba. How important is
it for us as Frum Yidden to realize that “Kol D’avid Rachmana L’Tav Ovid (Berachos 60b)” Everything
Hashem does is for the Good. What Hashem has given each of as our own individual is exactly what we
need, and we should yearn to be Gladdened with it. Simchas Hachaim is a tremendous Middah, and if one
is “Sameach B’Chelko” they will see themselves improving in both areas of Bein Adam L’Makom, and
Bein Adam L’Chaveiro.
Why is it that people are lacking in terms of Bein Adam L’Makom, because they feel sad and depressed
about their situation, and we know that one has to Serve Hashem with Simcha. Sadness and despair are
the opposite of Torah Living. The Torah is Zeesa, it is sweeter the sweetest thing in the world. We must
realize and understand this, and it will make us realize how great our lot in life truly is. Bein Adam
L’Chaveiru is decided by how we view Hashem’s Hashgacha in this world. If we realize thatHashem
gives each person exactly what they need, then we would be happy with our lot. Because we know that
Hashem is doing it for our best, and others people’s wealth and life situations would not matter to us. The
Gemara tells us “Every Individual must say, The world was created for me (Sanhedrin 37a)” Every Yirei
Shamayim must realize that Hashem created the world for him specifically, therefore how could one not
be Sameach B’chelko. In the Zechus that Hashem’s Children will truly cling to him through Simcha, We
should all strike rich and return to Yerushalyim with Moshiach Tzidkeinu.
